Islamabad College of Management & Design (ICMD), is operating as a degree college of professional studies in the Islamabad Capital Territory of Pakistan since April 1999. The College was established through the bold initiative of its principal - a young Pakistani lady, Mrs. Shanawar Hafeez. Part of the financial assistance for the establishment of ICMD was provided under the then “Prime Minister Self Employment Scheme” and more recently it is associated with “Dr. HIT Khawaja Trust”.

ICMD started as the study center of Newport University, Newport Beach, California, USA and is currently affiliated with Hazara University, chartered by the of Government of the NWFP. The Hazara University was established in 2001 and is well-reputed for its academic excellence in the fields of studies that include Social Sciences, Arts and Management.

Over the years the College has earned goodwill for imparting quality professional education. The extraordinary goodwill and success of ICMD stems from a highly educated and professional management that hires the most competent faculty available in the City and a very helpful and conscientious supporting staff.

Top Management:

The top management of Islamabad College of Management & Design – ICMD, includes Mrs. Shanawar Hafeez, who is the Principal of the College. She is Master in English Literature and MBA in Human Resource Management. She is a competent forward looking and imaginative educational administrator.

Prof. Dr. Hafeez Iqbal Tabish Khawaja is the consultant of the college management. He is a PhD from University College London. He is an eminent scientist and a scholar with internationally recognized research publications to his credit.

Professor Col. (r) M. Zahur-ul-Haq is from the Army Education Corps and is the Honorary President of the system. He is a renowned educationist and author of several books in Urdu and English. He has been awarded 'Pakistan Movement Gold Medal' for services rendered in the struggle for independence. He is running Officers Open Academy which is a distance learning institute preparing candidates for CSS examination throughout the country. The college plans to establish a wing for the preparation of CSS candidates.
